If Edmonds Community School is closed due to weather, our Centre will also be closed. Listen to the morning news for school closures. CKWX New (1130 AM) will broadcast school closures only if the decision is made to close the school. Often the local morning news (i.e. Global TV) will also have this information.
In the event our staff, whom come from near and far, are unable to safely commute in, and we are not able to meet licensing regulations for teacher to child ratio's we will close. We will contact parents / guardians whom have dropped off their children to come and pickup immediately. Anyone arriving after the decision to close will not be permitted in the Centre. This is for the safety of the children and staff.
You are welcome to call in the morning to confirm if we are open by calling before you leave home. Our website will also be updated to indicate if we are opened or closed.
Even on snow or poor weather days, it is critical children are picked up on time. If you are concerned that you may not be able to pickup your child on time, please arrange to have an alternate individual pickup your children. This is for the safety of the children and staff.
Our Centre prides itself in our ability to keep our doors open to serve our families, and we will close our doors only if absolutely required. We understand how difficult this can be for parents / guardians; however, we must put safety as a priority.
We close twice per year (fall and spring) for a day to provide training and development for our teachers. These dates will be on the closure calendar which is sent out each year so families can make alternate care arrangements for the day.
The centre may close for unforeseen purposes which may include, but is not limited to:
- Extreme weather conditions (i.e. snow or heat dome)
- Temperature disruption (i.e. no heat or excessive heat in the classroom)
- Flooding
- Maintenance which requires power or water to be turned off for an extended period.
- Any other situation which creates an unsafe environment for those in our facility.
